Committees
Much of the work of the church is carried on by committees. Involvement is one of the best ways to get to know other members of the church within the congregation, community and the world. Each committee includes at least one member of the Session who reports to the Session on the on-going work of the committee. Once each month there is a committee night, when the congregation is invited to gather for a light supper followed by meetings of the various committees. Minutes of each committee are then published so that the congregation is kept up to date on the many activities of the committees.
Christian Education with the guidance of the Pastor and the Director of Christian Education, plans and implements all facets of educational programs within the church.
Care seeks to respond to each person's needs in the Covenant Church family as a complement to Pastoral card. We also encourage the involvement of the entire congregation in this effort.
Fellowship and Evangelism is responsible for providing ways for members to get to know each other within the life of the church community. We also find ways to welcome visitors and new members into the church as well as bringing our church to the attention of the community through media outreach.
Outreach and Service strives to make us aware of the needs of others and minister to those needs. They encourage involvement through special offerings, working for local mission and international missions as well as supporting the Presbytery mission efforts.
Worship works with the pastor and the directors of the bell and chancel choirs to provide meaningful worship experiences for the congregation. The committee prepares the sanctuary for special services. They also schedule ushers, greeters, and worship assistants as well as communion preparers and servers throughout the year.

History
On August 16, 1871, seventeen charter members organized a congregation of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall. On October 12, 1873, the first building on the corner of Morgan and Salt Pond streets was dedicated.

As the town grew, so did the membership of the congregation. On December 7, 1890, a new, larger brick building at the corner of Morgan and Odell Streets was dedicated. This building served as the home of the congregation for almost 80 years.

Two national denominational mergers were brought about during these years. The first one was with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in 1906. The name of the congregation became the Odell Avenue Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The second merger was with the United Presbyterian Church of North America in 1958. The name of the church became Odell Avenue United Presbyterian Church, (U.S.A.).

With a third relocation to the corner of Yerby and Lincoln streets, it was necessary to select a new name, and the name Covenant Presbyterian Church was chosen. The present building was dedicated April 12, 1970. Foundation stones from the two former buildings rest at the entryway of the church.

In 1983, another national merger took place, uniting the United Presbyterian Church in the (U.S.A.) and the Presbyterian Church in the United States. Covenant is now a congregation in the Presbyterian Church, (U.S.A.) and is within the Missouri Union Presbytery, Synod of Mid-America.
